5 Steps to Elevating Your Wardrobe

Style is all about self expression. Following trends will keep you shifting your wardrobe seasonally, leaving you always chasing a ‘look’. It’s important to find your unique style and add in seasonal items to elevate your basics.

Step 1: Create a Vision

Make a vision board or use Pinterest to find styles you love! I personally love using Pinterest as I can search specific people, styles or brands. Pin all of your favorite looks to a board. When complete, start to look at the common themes. Maybe you like monochromatic outfits, or high contrast. Start to break down the looks you love so you can recreate them!

Step 3: Basics

Everyone needs basics! You’ll want to make sure your go-to jeans make you feel amazing, that your basic white shirt doesn’t have stains and feels great when you put it on. Make a list of all the basic items you pull out of your closet every week, decide which ones make you feel elevated, the items that need to be replaced and basics you need!

Step 5: Accessorize

A stunning coat and purse can elevate any outfit! Invest in pieces that you add to jeans and a t-shirt to make you feel styled and ready to go! I recommend buying accessories that you love that will remain as classic pieces in your closet. Add in trendy items seasonally at a lower price point.

Step 2: Clean Your Closet

Head to your closet and pick out all the items that you wear regularly. Go back to your closet and reevaluate the items you didn’t pick. If you haven’t work the item in 6 months, put it in a box and revisit in 6 months. If you don’t miss the pieces, let them go!

Step 4: Shoes!

Shoes can make or break an outfit. Like they say, you can tell a lot about a person by their shoes! Make a list of all the shoes you like to wear, which ones need to be replaced, repaired or are just right! Fill in the gaps with adding new boots, flats and heels that bring your outfits together!
